Footfall is detected using two infrared range finders with a detectable distance of up to 2.5 metres. The footfall data is stored locally (within the device) and uploaded at a set period of time or when the buffer is full (3 thousand events but can be set higher if required). At any time the unit will respond to a number of SMS commands like “Health”, to indicate the signal strength of the GSM signal and time to next upload.

The footfall data is uploaded to a secure SQL database located on a remote web-server capable of holding more than 8 billion   records. Customers log into the database using a suite of web tools that can run on any server with PHP version 4 and above.
The web page will provide basic information including the number of in – out detections between two user definable date/times,    indication that the counter is still on-line and the infrared detectors are not obstructed.

The footfall data can be downloaded either as XML or XLS format for use with Microsoft Excel.

As standard, the unit is wall or ceiling mounted. A post mounted option is also available and external units can be provided in a waterproof casing.
